In this Ash Wednesday sermon, based on Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21, I respond to the recent vandalism and hateful destruction of Jewish cemeteries as an illustration of our brokenness as human beings. Ash Wednesday acknowledges that in our brokenness and sin we are in need of God. God meets us in the very place where our lives cry out.
